Good question. I think I pass. If I am not able to pass in tempo I think I bid 3. Dbl could work but I would have to pass 3 then. 3NT is not terrible either. 4 (NLM) is quite bad, though.

IMO 3N = 10, Double = 9, Pass = 8, 3 = 7.

I'm passing also.

Bidding on A empty fifth is a huge leap of faith. Double has no answer for a bid from partner.

NT is another step into the unknown. In 1st seat Vulnerable, I'd expect the preempt to be on a pretty decent suit. Preemptor has to be cognizant of the phone number potential of wild preempts when vulnerable. If they duck the first to you, you'd better be ready to run 8 additional tricks or it could get gruesome. Expecting responder to have a stiff so that clubs can't be run is a bit dicey.

But the biggest problem is the unknown about what the person behind you holds. If it goes, 3 - P - P - ? and partner can find a call, your in a good position to compete.

Pass 3. 3NT might be more appealing if the clubs were Ax, so that at least I can hold up once. 3NT on subminimum values and Kx in clubs is just asking for a boot in the you-know-what.

However, if faced with 3 then 4 by LHO I think I can try 4 safely. This has to be 'diamonds and a secondary major', doesn't it? At least this way partner with at least 4=4 in the majors can bid 4 as 'pass or correct' with at least a fair hand.

Not wtp at all. I would definitely strongly consider overcalling 3D, red at MP is so bleh though. But our hand is so good and its easy to imagine being stolen from via a pass.

Why does it matter?
"Genius has its own limitations, however stupidity has no such boundaries!"

"Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say."
