How about allowing some number of total hands played (in tournaments, team matches, and/or MBC/RBC) to be an alternative trigger for "establish a TCR"? Set that number at a few hundred. This not-exactly-new-player would then be subject to the same criteria/methodology as would the player who once upon a time established a TCR but no longer has the 10 tournaments in the most recent 60 days: he'd be presumed to be expected to behave responsibly in tournaments unless or until he proves otherwise.

How doing all or any of this proves that I will be well-behaved when I play IMP scored pairs against real opponents with my favourite partner I don't know.

What we're concerned with is whether your Internet connection ad willpower are stable enough that you'll stick around for all 8-12 boards of the tourney. We assume that the type of scoring is not very significant.

Many people play lots of hands in the MBC for 15-20 minutes at a time, but they still can't manage to set aside a whole hour for a tourney. That's why we have separate MCR and TCR statistics.

OK - then why not count Team Play - Team matches are typically 8 boards (longer than the Express Individuals which are 6 boards) and take more time per board because you are not constrained by a 30 second clock. My internet connection and my sitz fleisch are just as strong playing a team match as any other kind of bridge.

And why, after I have jumped through these hoops and proven I have what it takes, do I have to do it all over again 60 days later? Seems like an unfair penalty for being an infrequent (but totally reliable) player.

You do not have to do it again 60 days later; once you have met the requirements to establish a TCR, you will continue to have a TCR based on your "reliability" over the most recent 60 days, even if your number of tournaments played during that period falls beneath 10.

So if I play 10 of these "Express tournaments" to eastablish a TCR, then play just one pairs tournament over the next 60 days, I don't have to start jumping though hoops again? Well that's better. Let's see how it works out. Thsnks. Doug (Wynsten)

Once you establish your TCR, you will always have a TCR. It can go down or up or down each day, but only if you've played 10 tourneys during the preceding 60 days. Otherwise, it just stays the same. So play those 10 tourneys, and you never have to play another tourney again. Of course, then you probably don't actually care about your TCR :)

Well, I played them, and I've got my TCR, so everything is copacetic. And I never have to play in a chat-forbidden robot-directed robot-subbed 2/1 individual again. :)

Well, at least fake your way through 2/1. Otherwise you are going to have a lot of unhappy people playing opposite you.

OK - I played in about 5 of these. It was hard to tell if anyone was unhappy since you can't chat with your partner or opps but I kinda doubt it, since as far as I could tell the only people playing 2/1 were the robots. The rest were playing KB (Kitchen Bridge). And that makes perfect sense in an environment where you can't discuss systems with your partner so the more technical your system, the worse you do.

It's like any other individual, everyone just does whatever they feel like.
