Hand free daylong mp
I bid 2 looking for Gibs better major.
Gib bids 3 showing 3+ when it only has 2 and 4-4 in majors.
But Why would 3 show 4-4 clearly 3 is 4-4 and if your not good enough for 3 just pick a major. How many bids do you need to show 4-4 in majors?
Gib can't be blamed for this is clearly programmed to do this.

By refusing to pick a major we end up in inferior major and could make extra trick in .

In this case steve2005 I am gonna side with GIB. Over 2d it cannot bid h or s having shown those already. 3d might be silly so 3C is the only bid left. In case you have long clubs Kx is good support.
Also, the good books say when you have 2 4-4 fits go for the weaker fit so you don't run into ruffs in the other case. Note here with a HQ lead in 4S tough time bringing in the extra trick.

Well 2 doesn't mean pick a major.
Gib doesn't want to show a major fine bid 3 showing 2 card suit when it promises 3 cards is good way to end up in wrong strain.
3 probably shows something else so it can't bid 3.
It is fairly common that Gib can't set trump as bidding a 4-card major is too difficult.
If 2 or 2 shows anything more than a preference and a minimum hand it is a poor bidding method. Sure could have 5M but shouldn't promise it.

It would be nice to be able to ask for the better major in cases where the exact length is known already but I don't think it should be a high priority. Ideally North would bid 3 after the 3 bid.

I agree with vrock that Kx is adequate support.
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

 What do you mean that GIB can't be blamed (assuming there is blame to be assigned)??? Whether is the design of GIB or the programmers who implemented the coding, it's all GIB.

Gib after takeout double or negative double consistently refuses to show a 4-card major. I guess as bidding would show 5. But everyone knows once in while Gib or a human doesn't have 4 so you need a non-jump to not promise extra length.
In any case with sensible bidding a major shouldn't show extra length merely nothing better to do or preference.

Low priority that we can't reach the better of two 4-4 fits. Sorry that it mattered on this hand.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

it didnt matter on a HQ lead. I think this is not a valid "bug". It is not even a "bug". Just bridge.
