Group assignment
Group 1: stephen tu, barmar, gordontd, jeffford76, mkgnao
Group 2: diana_eva, sfi, elwood913, broze, el mister
Group 3: olegru, wackojack, stoppiello, sep123, jexa_
Group 4: dadim, smerriman, chuck11, ye17, icycookie
Group 5: nige1, ovncylmz, nekthen, phil, gqc6, frank0
Rule of group RR (please read)
1. Before the end of the incoming week (possibly extend to weekend if necessary), please play 1 set of 16 boards, non-best hand IMP challenge with each other player in the same group, and report the result in this thread (with link to hand record).
2. Top 3 of each group will advance to R16 KO, seeding is determined by rank in group, then (average) VP.
Play-off rule
There will be a 16 boards play-off between
a. top VP 4th among group 1~4 and
b. 4th place of group 5 with 14.5 IMP carryover (so the chance of winning about 70%, estimated from data in event 3).
to determine the 16th spot in KO stage.
Group assignment algorithm (no need to read, just for your information)
A. Seeding is determined first by masterpoint, then masterpoint from event 4, then random number.
B. A randomly selected player is put to group 5 (result:frank0 (seed 26))
C. 5 sets of random permutation of [1 2 3 4 5] is generated (not listed in excel file) to determine the group assignment of seed 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-25
D. Because we're going to have 16 out of 26 players advance, that means about 3.7 out of 6, or 12.3 out of 20. That translates to Rule of group RR 2. and 3.
E. The carryover of play-off match will be determined by statistics comes from event 3 (also IMP non-best hand).

I assume this won't start until after Orlando ends, so I'm in. I can hardly do much worse than last time.

That means it will be running through Christmas. Is that going to cause problems for others?

Yes, that means I'm out as I can't be sure to have internet access over that period.
