Any suggestions what should be led here as there was a wide variation in the number of tricks made.

Make sure you view the explanations of the first 3 bids before commenting.

With soft values in both minors, I'd lead a trump.

I am not fond of leading stiff trumps but this looks like good plan, protect your minor cards.

5, partner may have 4 trumps and RHO is probably short in - thus, a forcing defense is called for as I have the minors controlled.
Ultra Relay: see Daniel's web page: https://bridgewithda...19/07/Ultra.pdf
C3: Copious Canape Club is still my favorite system. (Ultra upgraded, PM for notes)

Santa Fe Precision published 8/19. TOP3 published 11/20. Magic experiment (Science Modernized) with Lenzo. 2020: Jan Eric Larsson's Cottontail . 2020. BFUN (Bridge For the UNbalanced) 2021: Weiss Simplified (Canape & Relay). 2022: Canary Modernized, 2023-4: KOK Canape.

noone was suggesting he does. methinks you misread the post above yours.

anyway, opps are low on hcp. a trump seems pretty clear.

btw, why did i lebensohl to 3c with my 3 suited hand?

I would lead trump. And I would double 2. Agree with Wank that lebensohl with 5 card suit and when all 3 others suits are playable is weird.

My options were pass or 2N intending to pass 3, no ToX available, X is pens.

I do not like the look of either minor so it is either a trump or a spade. I quite like the idea of 8 here trying to set up a spade or 2 before the minor stop disappears but most likely the trump was the winning option.

No, I didn't misread anything. I was just asking as it might have influenced my lead.

We open all 5332s 1N, unless we're prepared to lie that we have a 6th one.

I led a trump, which I thought was reasonably obvious, Q would do just as well as long as you lead a trump next, small spade would depend on partner's actions.

The full hand was something like:

There would have been other auctions at other tables as many pairs were playing strong NT. Our declarer made 8 tricks, some made 11 on other leads.

And yes declaring anything would have been ugly

I'm leading a trump. My tricks are in the minors so I want to reduce potential ruffs in dummy.
