MP, all white, 2/1.

Edit: bidding goes 1C (P) ?

On the plus side you do have 4 Spades but on the negative side they're pretty anemic and it is a 4333 hand.

I know its a bidders game but is this pushing it too far?

Thanks in advance,

Simon

Since u didnt tell which suit pd opened with...

I bid 1 over a minor

I show my support if pd opens 1

I show my support over 1

I pass over 1NT

I will not go over 2 level openings...

In a natural system, I would raise a major but pass a minor.
But with Qxxx.Kxx.xxx.xxx I would always respond.

Doesn't it depend what system you are playing?

If you are playing Acol with a weak no trump it would be silly to pass 1, for instance, because partner will often have a strong no trump.

I don't think this hand is worth 5 points. I would pass any one level opening, except maybe 1.

I will stick my neck out with 1 on account of the conditions. Please don't jump pd.

Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

Will I want to leave the room rather than put down dummy if partner bids 2NT next? In this case yes. Pass. Will I want to leave the room rather than put down dummy if partner bids 1NT next? This is the death hand for weak NT-X, so yeah.

I'm less likely to pass playing K/S, as I don't particularly mind 1NT next, and that's much more likely than 2NT.

Yes, 1 will play worse than spades, but I'll have to play 2, and that's if we have spades.

I may be too conservative but my general rule is that if I wouldn't welcome a 2nt rebid I don't respond. This one actually doesn't welcome any rebid other than 2 or 2 and if p is minimum with a fit, oops are probably going to outbid us anyway. And I don't want a spade lead.

1 has merits of course. It makes it more difficult for oops to bid 4. But I don't think it's worth it. We will get overboard too often.

I will bid 1, but in my world partner will not bid 2N with a balanced 18-19.

That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.
