I feel like this statement is the start of a joke about Canadian bridge experts that will eventually cause my being banned by Fred from the BBO Forums.

It also reminds me about when I was teaching a college friend of mine about proper etiquette when driving on a 2 lane highway (only getting in the left lane if you are intending to pass someone). She insisted that in Missouri, where she was from, it was standard just to pick a lane and drive.

From South perspective the auction at his second turn is consistent with North holding a weak hand with 3♠=3♥=4♦=3♣.

Souths bidding was at least not out of this world. Sure, he should have given it a straight forward value call at his second turn but he was hoping to stop in 2H opposite a yarb I guess. He at least showed most of his values and most of his hearts. North's bidding was out of this world. He probably did not realize that souths second double when his partner showed like 0-9 showed a very strong hand.
