Board-a-match (like MP), good field, although opponents aren't a known team.

Making 6

ATB and suggestions on how you'd bid this, preferably in the context of 2/1 gf, fast arrival, etc. (although other systems are fun to see too).

For those who like results, as it turned out at the table +680 was a pushed board.

Poor North, visualizing he will have to play the whole thing out of his hand. And I haven't a clue what South can do about that.

Given the system in use, the only possible blame would be to South because he should like his diamond queen.

I only have a "resulting" auction:

2C - 2D! ( not a bust )
3S jump ( sets trumps, demands cuebidding ) - 4C
4D - 4H! ( Last Train to Clarksville )
5D - 6D
6H - 6S

In your auction North can push it forward with 4 rather than 4, which seemed very pessimistic to me Posted Image.
Said that, I would set the suit by jump to 3 (like TWo4BRIDGE) - it is self sufficient and my hand is built on that suit, not 23+ HCP. Since I dont play last train, it would be something like:
2 - 2
3 - 4 (control, reasonable hand, not dead minimum)
4-4 - denies control
5 - 5 (Q, and still cooperative with slam)

"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

I can't do anything realistic about it.

Why can partner not hold AQJxxx here rather than a red queen?

surprised by the replies - i think south has a clear move over 4, at least playing my, more traditional, style of 2 opening

Because I play AK, KKQ or AQQ for a positive. The problem is that partner might bid 6 over 5 with AK in which case he'd better have 9.

That agreement is convenient for this hand; but I believe "positive" means to most people who have the 2H negative that it is a non-2H bid (2H=no A, no K) --2D is a hand o.k. with game, not necessarily approaching slam.

Maybe, I don't play the 2 double negative so can't really comment.

Neither do I, but without it I can't imagine the 2D response in the post showing anything ---let alone the examples of AQQ, KKQ, etc that your post included (or the 3C rebid being a control).

Agreed, I was just giving my auction.

I play that if 2C opener's suit is given preference, it sets trumps. It is usually practical as is here.
The negative inference of opener just bidding 4S suggests club void and minimum, meaning 3-4 losers.
South should have no problem valuing his hand with three working cover cards. (DQ should be a fast entry)
I'd cue DQ as south and north shouldn't stop short of slam.

System is to blame. If responder can show some values immediately with 2 or 2, opener will make a move over 3.

The system is to blame from bid #1, i.e. the 2C opener. The key to the slam is the red queens and no conventional system with 2C as the strong opening can bid this slam without a considerable dose of guessing. Take away the club ace: slam is STILL 100% cold and there's absolutely no way to bid it.

You need a relay system to bid this scientifically. A good one will reach 6 with or without the club ace.
