Theoretically these gadgets all sound nice. This one doesn't say how the partnership must cope with opposition interference. This forum has had a number of threads on a Big Club system / Big Diamond System versus Better Minor opening bids.

Are there any regular contributors to these forums who have at some point played THE MAGIC CLUB & THE SPARKLING DIAMOND? What are your thoughts on this approach?

I haven't played it, but as you suggested, it seems unplayable when you get interference. Not to mention that apparently you can't play in 2M often.

Does the MAF system not use something like this? I have also heard of something quite similar being used as a learning system. It seems to me basically sound but not optimal.

Never before had I heard of the MAF System until Zelandakh,s post above. So I did a Google search and looked it up. This is what I found http://web.inter.nl.....A.F/index0.htm

MAF stands for Majors Always First. So we have yet another system fighting for a place in the sun. What makes one system better than another? Personally I believe it has more to do with the quality of the player playing any particular system than what it has to do with the system itself.

Amusing, but it's fair eneough, as it emphasises that a 1C open (unless long) must contaim a 4 card major. It surely is "{4441}" (ie any suits) rather than "4441" (shdc).

Doesn't look much like that system.

In book form it is like Oakley's Diamond Major, but with 1♣ the major hand. I've played against systems where the 1♣ opening promises a four card major. They usually first implemented a Montreal Relay 1♣-1♦ response, and then liked the sequences so much that they end up always opening 1♣ with a major. The competitive sequences get fun.
