Today I had many complaints about not seeing the previou results but one or two who said they liked not being distracted and using brain power over something they could not change.
As a player , I like (when playing seriously with a human partner) not to be distracted by the board results or (even worse) opponent's evaluation of the DD chart and how well they/we played.
But as a TD I recognize that if we make information available, people have a right to use it.
So should we make it available? I think our choice should be disciplined.
Once the snake is out of the box, I feel it is unrealistic to try to put it back in, so turning off seeing the results is not an option, especially if you gave them the results online or they do get them in nearly clubs.
There are also questions of "which results": how do we currently place on this board, how do we currently place overall.
There is also the question of "when": my preference is that the players only see results when they have completed all the boards in current round, so that they are motivated to finish it timely and until then do not lose time in discussion. Alas I cannot yet choose this option.
I do feel that the main actors in this decision - WBF and RA - are clamorously absent.
We are talking about the nature of the competition itself, not some technical issue that can be left up to a TD.
There are sports where players know who is winning but also (a few) where they do not, and until now MP bridge was one.
