I was signed up for a BBO Italia BBX points tournament that started a few minutes ago, but was not pulled into the tournament. I was playing on the tablet with browser which is unusual for me and I might just have done something wrong. What happened is that one moment it was shown as "Starting soon", then disappeared. I looked for it under "Running", but not there either.
What is more interesting is what happened when I tried my usual failback of logging in on the phone. I was now in session on the phone, but still didn't get pulled into the tournament: and the session on the tablet was still responding to me!
In both sessions I could navigate history and profile, seeing the same data. On the phone I now saw the tournament as running. Unfortunately I was too annoyed to check if that had changed on the tablet or if I could play on it. But I somehow doubt it, I suspect the server had written off the client on tablet when the tournament started and the client didn't know despite the frequently claimed keep alive mechanism.

There are multiple servers involved in running the BBO service. It sounds like your tablet lost its connection to the main game server, so it didn't get sucked into the game. This also explains why the first session didn't get logged out when you logged in on the phone -- the message telling the tablet to logout couldn't get through. The client is supposed to detect this connection failure and log itself out after a timeout, but for some reason we don't understand it doesn't always happen.
But the tablet was still communicating with the web servers that are used to view lists of tourneys, profile, etc., so navigating in the app continued to work.
