I thought this would be an FAQ but I searched the forums for quite a while and didn't see it.

I play with the same 4 people every week. Once and a while there will be timer that will kick people off the table if they don't bid within X seconds. 90% of the time we play this timer does not exist. Once and a while it does. When it does it seems to stick around for the whole evening.

Does anyone know what determines if this timer shows up on a table or not? It strikes me as odd that it seems to show up randomly and only occasionally.

It's turned off if you've set 'permission required to play' in the host's table settings. Most likely, your normal host does this when setting up the table, though perhaps they occasionally forget (or it might change if they get disconnected part way through and someone else becomes host).
