Don't know what you had, but GIB is on the aggressive side when responding to a 2C opener. I rarely move when it attempts to sign off in a major suit game.

I had a big red two-suiter. This wasn't my auction; mine was uninterrupted and went 1♥-2♥-6♥. I couldn't think of any way to get the information I needed to confidently bid 7. It's not at all clear to me what info this South was hoping to gain from initiating a cue-bidding sequence given the explanation of 4♥.

But, of course, the point of this thread is to question North's bidding, not South's.

True enough, and I certainly agree that GIB had no part of a jump to 7, cuebid or no cuebid.
