Make 4S Double-dummy

Against 4, West lead a . At the table I unsuccessfully played East for Hx. It's not immediately apparent how to make it double-dummy.

Pretty hand. Win the lead and play a heart covering East as cheaply as possible. West wins the king and returns say another diamond. You ruff, cash 1 top spade and then lead the J (or the 8 if East played the 9 before). Now if East ducks, you have held your heart losers to 1 and can just give up 2 spades. If East wins the heart, you have an entry to the table to take the trump finesse.

You can win A, cross to hand with a non-, and lead a small .
Basically, this is the same line as manudude03's,
but this simplified diagram shows that it isn't reliant on pips:
