I think I thrump double.
"Partner you know 3NT is often our game, I can't try it, can you stop spades?"
I have good stuff having passed then heard this auction.
About as good as no act last round can be.
I guess our NegX rules (no 4xS) constrained me.

I bid 3 NT

Do you both play 3♦ as showing extras or could it be made with 6-7 diamonds to the AK and a QJ on the side?

Does it matter?
I agree with MrAce.
I think 3NT in such scenarios should show a hand where you have enough to raise partner's minor, but with a hand where 3NT might also make.
3NT can be corrected to 4m, but 4m can not be corrected to 3NT. With an intelligent partner this is not a case where 3NT should end all auctions.
yesterday I ran into a similar situation in a BBO individual (weak standard)
I should have bid 3NT. I bid 4♣ which went down 2

It is a different situation obviously but it is also easy to play Devil's Advocate here:
The point is not whether 3NT is the right call or not (on either hand) but rather that there is something of a risk here. That risk is lessened somewhat if 3♦ shows extras as well as sounder openings being in play. I would actually like to know what double would have meant over 3♣ before choosing a call here because I feel that is relevant. Whatever we do and whatever agreements in place, there is likely to be some risk. I will also note that the fact this hand is posted strongly suggests 3NT does make so we cannot take too much stock from the hand itself any more than the hand Rainer posted or the one in this message.
