How do I cater for partner's xxx xxx xxxx Kxx? In a better world, 3♦ followed by 4♦ would be a choice-of-games cue-bid, but everyone plays that as a slam-try.
The best I can think of is to try 3♦ and see what he does. If he happens to bid 3♠ I'll raise that. If he bids anything else I'll have to bid 4♥, and we could still be in a stupid contract.

... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

I think it is a mistake to bid 2♥ with this distribution.
When responding to takeout double on a three card suit, consider what you will do if takeout doubler will cuebid next.
I for my part I do not rebid three card suits in response to a cuebid if there is any alternative. I might pass with xx xxx xxxxx Kxx
I prefer to respond with 2♠ followed by 3♥ with your distribution
I do not see how 3♦ followed by 4♦ even as a choice-of-games cue-bid would help.
Would you expect responder to start bidding spades at the 4-level?

Yes. If it offers a choice of games, presumably spades is one of the choices.
With three hearts and a five-card black suit, the doubler would cue-bid and then bid his suit. Hence the choice-of-games cue-bid would show a more heart-orientated hand, such as the one in the original post.

I think that Rainer has it right: With 3/3 you should bid 2 spades, not 2 heart, partner will be well placed over your 3 ♥ response to 3 ♦ with 46 in the majors.

When I saw this hand I also inmediatelly started to think about 3343.
For me 2♠ is forcing so I would try that, but I supose that is not mainstream. Now I think of it, I bid 3♠ the round before.

Yep. I bet next time Phil's partner will think of it in time to do it.
