Today I entered an Ind.Tourney from one of the 3 big host @ BBO. After 3 very wild IMP's showing up, such as: 4h+1 =9.3, a Slam for over 15, & a 6!dX-1 for -12 even tho it scored only 100 & pre-empted ops from 4!h :( (5!h makable really) I began to wonder if those were brand "New" (unplayed & unstandardized) Hands. YES, they were.

We sometimes see 1-2 New Hands in Tournament, which I find objectionable. (Let them be standardized at Main Competitive tables, or in Free Tourney, rather than Paid MasterPoint Tmts, imo) But now EVERY Hand of the 9 was absolutely NEW. I do not feel we should be paying an Entry Fee to basically do the club a favor in playing those hands, when the result is always wildly unpredictable. At very least, I think we should be notified under "MORE" info, that it will not be using tried & tested hands ...but more like a crap-shoot for IMP.

Does anyone AGREE or DISAGREE about this?
The other matter is that lately we cannot see Charts of Other Tables now during IND.Tmts ... tho Pairs & sometimes Matches CAN still see them as the Game progresses (or at least as OPs change in Pairs). Is this a change of Policy by those clubs to stop showing charts as-we-go? Or being due to NEW Hands being used and no info to display there?! I would very much like them back. IMHO.
Wouldn't you too ?

Just a couple things to add. First, our IMP scores were the Only ones for those hands, no other tables that just needed time to come-in and alter IMP's. (In which case, I could see why a 1-hand delay in posting the imps, if multi tables needed to finish it)
Secondly, that having the 2nd hand with only 1-prior played on a NEW hand is just as bad, since it just Reverses the first table's score. EG, They got 5.4 then you or your ops will get 5.4, right?
Lastly, I have only played here from Christmas, so perhaps I am mistaken or fail to understand something/s of all this !?

Am I missing something.

What are "New", "Unplayed", "Unstandardised" hands.

I have played in many free Tourneys and run several over the years. I have never come across one that shows the "traveller" which shows the comparison with other tables - only the IMPs or MP% result at your table (and then only if the TD has set that option).

You can, of course, check with the "my hands" archive after the Tourney has finished and then see the whole traveller.

You may then find why 4H+1 made as many as 9.3 IMPS when, on other tables, the opps made a contract their way.

HI, The NEW hands I describe mean never before played nor scored by BBO, so that YOUR or MY result is the first ever recorded for that hand. (And in this tmt, no others came in to alter that). So that 9.3 and that 15 had no other table results to compare with. It stands alone, tho tables in the future are certainly affected by It :(

I wonder if you are using BBO-ware or other? My browsers: IE7, FF, & aolExplorer have ALWAYS shown the result of other tables in the event; & any prior scores attributed to it if IMP. As you say, the MP or IMP's for them. I don't know if it showed cards played. For it is the MP/IMP info from other tables, that is missing now, which i would like back. For now even the "OTHER TABLE" TAB does Not show-up, you see. Nor imps; or even tricks/game scores for ops at other tables, that used to be there.

In RESULTS at the top it says "MY TABLE". Just to the right of that has Always shown "Other Tables" of the event. Always until just the past couple weeks I guess. I never had to go to My Hands to see them before, as long as I did not start some other table or event right afterward.

BUT T/Y for that thought, & I'll be looking there for that event soon to see what is showing. It was surely nicer to see Other Table IMPs during the event tho.

Is it possible that you simply finished playing the boards much sooner than usual?

When you play in a tournament, the hands are only played by other tables in that tournament. You can only see the results at other tables after the tourney is over.

When you play in the Main Bridge Club, up to 15 other tables in the MBC will play those hands, and you'll be compared against them. You can see the other table results for each board immediately after you finish it.

And sometimes you will play the hand first, so no comparisons will show up initially and it can take some time for them to come in. Checking your hands on myhands later in the day normally shows all the comparisons.
