IMPS, expert pd with a little experience of playing together. Opponents claim they are experts.

Do you approve my 3 bid ?

Result of the hand really doesnt matter, this is posted to satisfy curiosity about what me and my pd thinks about other people's choices.

Thank you all.

I don't know what else is even worth thinking about. I think 4H is better than pass.

Let me guess, partner made a vulnerable 2-level overcall on a shaky holding, went for a number, then blamed you for a light raise?

Anyway, 3 looks 100%.

Is this another situation for Good/Bad 2NT! .
Then there are two ways to bid 3H.

while p is counting on me for 7 hcp for the overcall, I am
a tiny bit short in that department, This hand contains the
small possibility of 3 spade ruffs with a decent shot at 2
spade ruffs. It is rare indeed to have a hand that exceeeds
p expectations by two tricks and a trump fit. At MP I would
bid 3h but at IMPS

4h.

If opps bid 4s and p passes I can X showing 1 defensive trick
(4h promising none) and leave the rest up to p. If P made a
vul lead director they will quickly look for another partner
or maybe not bid so much in the future. Another benefit to 4h
(vs 3) is the opps are much more likely to misguess p heart
distribution when they are deciding how/if to compete.

Using 2NT as a good heart raise makes sense here, but if you were to play that then this hand is probably not good enough. The only possibility I can see for a different call to 3 would be X if that showed a [3 card] heart raise without a top honour. I am pretty shocked to see a vote for pass here.

I separate supporting hands with short
in their major from other raises.
This is in that separate case. I show D-wanted raise.

I'd have bid 3 without much thought. Certainly without misgivings.
