Don't try this at home, or when playing with a sarcastic forum poster.

Or with a non-sarcastic partner who might raise your 4♦ bid to game.

Im on the 4♠boat.

You never complete the picture of a lead director bid with xx.He would go back in ♥himself.
If he would have ♦ he would pass 4♦x since we already made a preference on ♦over ♥ by passing x
There is no way in hell an expert should pass this xx.

Bidding a 5710 by starting with 4♦ and then xxing is truly a master stroke. As a matter of fact making this call grants you automatic entry into the GHOF (Genius Hall of Fame).
I did consider that partner could have this hand but it also begs the question what would 4♣ followed by redouble mean? Or 4♣ followed by 4♦ then xx? I'd like Rexford to check in because he's very at deciphering these auctions from Mars.
By the way, this morning I just gave the hand to CLarsen and he pulled to 4♠ followed by "I'll never play with this #/@?* again".
So maybe this type of sequence is more common than I imagine. Sigh.

CLarsen could have used 'BBO Expert' when he said "I'll never play with this #/@?* again".

♠KQJTx
♥AQTxxx
♦x

and felt that 4♦->XX was the right way to bid this hand, although I didn't do it.
And, of course, 4♣->XX if I had the 4-7 pattern.
