I've recently been involved in an email discussion about the sequence 2♥-(3♣)-5♥ and other similar auctions. There seem to be three approaches to the 5♥ bid:
(1) It's an advance sacrifice on a weak hand. It invites opener to bid 6♥ over 6♣ if his hand is suitable.
(2) It's just "to play" and could be a wide range of hand types. Opener is always expected to pass regardless of whether opponents compete further.
(3) It's a slam try asking for something specific (usually a club control); if the opponents bid over 5♥ then a forcing pass would be on.
Would any of these approaches be alertable under ACBL rules?

Off the top of my head, I don't think so. Of course, I could be wrong.
