Scoring: IMP

West North East South

 1    Pass  1   ?

I had this hand and I remember I saw a similar hand in one of cayne team matches where the holder x after opener bid 1s not sure if was second seat or same as here.
It's not what you are, it's how you say it!

Hi,

pass.

If you cant stand it, bid 1 NT.

As a side note, some play 2D and 2S in the
given situation as natural.

With kind regards

As the previous poster notes, you have three (semi) reasonable choices

1. 2 showing Spades
2. 1NT showing 15+ - 18 balanced
3. Pass denying a bunch of hand types

I think that your hand is significantly too weak to consider 1NT

I'd prefer a sixth spade for 2, but I wouldn't squawk too loundly if partner bid this

Pass is certainly permissible

I vote for 2. Sure I'd also prefer a sixth, but the hand and the suit are both good so I'm not really bothered.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.
