Hi Willow,
Indiv or Pairs:
Indiv means your partners are randomly assigned each round, pairs means you need to select your own partner and sign up together.
Barometer:
Selecting this gives the option to show scores at the end of each round. Remember that scores shown are for your section only--if the tourney has too many tables, it may have different sections, and your final ranking/score may not reflect what is shown every round. Nevertheless, the scores shown is a very good indicator of how you're doing.
IMP or MP or Total Points:
Types of scoring. TP just means your score is not IMPed or MPed, but only raw scores taken into account. Everyone plays the same boards always.
Unclocked/clocked:
Clocked means your section gets to move to next round when time limit for each round is up. If, when there are 4 minutes on clock left, you haven't begun your board, that board is cancelled and automatic averages are assigned.
If, when time runs out, you are still in the middle of a board, automatic average MINUSES are assigned.
TD can decide on his own policy to assign new scores in place of this automatic average/average minus, BBO doesn't mind.
Unclocked means when you finish a board, software tries to match you with someone else who has also finished the board. If you are consistently slow, you may keep getting matched with consistently slow people. And you may all end up finishing 20 minutes after the fastest pair finishes.
Swiss:
This is a type of movement where top performers get to play against other top performers. So if you are top after round 1, you move up and play with other top people. If you're last after round 1, you'll be matched with 2nd last people, and so on. Results are culmulative.
In BBO, you can tell who's top/bottom by looking at table number in a Swiss match. Top performers move up to table 1 NS, 1 EW, 2 NS, 2 EW, etc.
Survivor:
This is a fun type of movement where TD can decide how much to eliminate each round. TD can change % each round. Survivor tourneys are automatically also Swiss movements.
Mitchell (default):
Unless you've selected SWISS or UNCLOCKED, the movement is standard Mitchell (where NS remain seated, EW move down 1 table) so you play against everyone else.
